Letters, numbers and symbols. The best all-rounder for labels.
To add a label to each code, paste two columns from a spreadsheet: the value, then the label. Up to 500 codes per printout.
Got a barcode scanner? Click in the box and scan. Each code goes on its own line.
4 codes · 1 page of A4 at 21 per page
How it works
- Choose a code type. Code 128 suits most labels you make yourself; QR suits links and longer text.
- Paste your list, one value per line. Straight from a spreadsheet column works.
- Pick how many labels fit on a page, or choose a label sheet or label printer size under Print on, then print. Long lists run over as many pages as they need.
Label sheets and label printers
Printing on ready-cut sticky label sheets? Choose a built-in size, or enter your own: the label size, how many across and down, the gaps between them and the margins. Using a label printer? Pick the label size and each code is printed on a page the size of one label. A live picture of the first page shows where everything will land.
Labels from a spreadsheet
Select two columns in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers, the code in the first and a name in the second, then copy and paste them in. Each code is printed with its name underneath, which is handy for shelf labels, asset tags and stock bins.
Printing tips
- Print at 100% scale. Turn off “fit to page”, or the labels won’t line up with your cutting guides or label sheet.
- Print one page first and scan a couple of codes before running the whole batch.
- Keep the white margin around each code. Scanners need it to find the edges.
Only need one code? Use the QR code generator or the barcode generator, which also download PNG, JPG and SVG files.
Frequently asked questions
How many codes can I make at once?
Up to 500 per printout, including copies. For a longer list, print it in batches of 500.
Can I put a label on each code?
Yes. Copy two columns from a spreadsheet, the value and then the label, and paste them in, or open the sheet saved as a CSV file. The label is printed under each code.
Is my CSV file uploaded?
No. Your browser reads the file on your own device, and nothing is sent to us or anyone else.
Can I print on sheets of sticky labels, such as Avery?
Yes. Under Print on, choose your sheet: a few common Avery sizes are built in, and “Another label sheet” lets you enter the label size, how many across and down, the gaps and the margins. Print one page on plain paper first and hold it against a label sheet to check it lines up. If it’s a little out, use “Nudge the print position” to move everything a fraction of a millimetre. Other brands often make sheets in the same sizes.
Can I print to a label printer, such as a Zebra, Dymo or Brother?
Yes, one code per label. Under Print on, pick a common label size or enter your own, then choose your label printer when you print and set its paper size to match the label. It prints through your normal printer settings, so it needs a printer your computer can already print to. It doesn’t send printer commands such as ZPL.
Can I get a PDF instead of printing?
Yes. Click Print, then choose “Save as PDF” as the printer. You get one PDF with every page of labels in it.
Which code type should I use?
For stock, shelf and asset labels you make yourself, Code 128 reads on every scanner. For links or long text, use QR. For retail products, shops expect EAN-13 or UPC-A, and those numbers must be registered with GS1.
Is it free for business use?
Yes. There’s no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it, and you can use the codes for anything, including commercial use.
Is my list sent anywhere?
No. Every code is drawn in your browser and nothing you paste is sent to us or anyone else.
